I've just always stood mine up, started out that way doing it with pistol bullets and do the same with my rifle bullets. It really doesn't take that much extra time and I can have the second batch coated an placed on the tray and ready to put in the toaster oven by the time the first batch is ready to come out of the oven.
I think and it's just my opinion that the powder flow better while it's curing an you get a more even overall coat. I've also started to gas check my bullet before coating as it much easier to apply them beforehand as some powder coats I use are thicker and make putting the check on after coating a bit more frustrating. All the powders I use seem to stick to the checks just fine and besides the crimp the coating bonds the check to the bullet as well.
You're doing it the right way, Pat. Welcome to the dark side 😁 Reloader 7sixtwo, those look great. I love that Carolina Blue color.
